Tried out a new app on my droid this weekend called MyTracks. Basically becomes a handheld GPS, and I can let it record my tracks, put in waypoints such as blood drops and such. Might be pretty cool to use on a track job. I used it walking out of my stand on Sat. Yea, I walk a mile to get in. Fun stuff.

Yes. One of my favorite inventions is the use of a spray bottle of peroxide. Even completely dried blood will bubble. This has helped us out of a stand-still many times. Looks like blood, spray it!

This game has changed a bunch in the last 11 years! One thing that hasn't is bad shots. I honestly believe I solved this problem for myself a few years ago. I started shooting before every hunt. That extra bit of confidence has made more dead deer and less tracking.

Besides that we have the best lights we've ever had, lots more dogs and even apps to help us. Apps to help evaluate the shot and waiting game, apps to help track your steps. Whatever you seem to need is at your fingertips today.

I'm grateful that I grew up before the dogs lighted knocks and things like such. I was forced to find the deer or do without my pride wouldn't let me do the latter. I learned an awful lot...And filled my skill bag. There's a couple around here that will tell you Rick can't find it it's not dead yet.

Remember back in the day they had a very thin thread you could attach to your arrow and it spooled off from your stabilizer. If you got a pass through you got 2 lines to follow. It had like 500 yards of thin thread which pulled out easily.

I had a friend use it. He shot a nice buck but only had about 30 yards of line and a broken knot where the arrow should be. I asked him what happened to his miracle thread sure track system and he replied sheepishly, that deer took off on a dead run so I grabbed the thread spooling off to slow him down a bit...the end!
