Anyone going out tomorrow for tree rats or dove? I'm not much on dove hunting anymore, but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna bust some bushy tails from at least my yard. Hard to beat some fresh squirrel...

Have to work all week so more than likely won't get out until the weekend. But I am not setting foot in the squirrel woods until the temperature drops below 80. I'll probably try and shoot some doves out of the old sweet corn patch unless I continue on my groundhog hunting ways.

Brock, Travis, and I will be out busting some whistle birds like we do every year.

I don't get too excited until the weather cools off. Never been much for shooting squirrels until after a frost because of warbles.

Meet us at the pizza shop at 5, Giles. Its part of the tradition. We roll in like a swarm of amish...

No we're serious. Bring a lot of shells. By a lot I mean over 100. These are trained fighter pilot doves. They come in with the afterburners lit. I've watched 20 guys shoot at the same dove crossing the field and all of them miss.

You'd think with all that practice they'd get better lol

Yep I'll be out there for doves in a private wheat field. There were a bunch of geese in there too but they stopped showing up the past couple days... So I'll be shooting steel 6's at doves over some goose decoys, just in case.

HIP survey, check. 4 boxes of shells, check. A bag to carry 80 lbs of shells….check.

I hope my truck parts come in the morning so I can get it going in time.

We'll look forward to seeing you Giles. Typically, Joe, myself, and the rest of our band of slayers like to see if it is possible to melt a barrel. It is considered bad form to shoot to kill... until we start running low on ammo. Once that happens, it's considered bad form to waste shells or tow shoot before birds are well within range. This may sound like there are actually rules, there are not, but it happens this way every year. If you leave the field with your limit, and a box of ammo, you have cheated yourself out of a good time.

Joe, so far I know skinny Brandon will be joining us, along with Big Al (Lathe). Josh will be along with Brandon as well. Townzen will be joining us for the first time, he bought a vest today to carry ammo... My neighbor, Bryan, will likely be holding down his end of the field with his double barrel muzzleloader again too... Should be another great opening day, if there are birds around. We'll be on the big field again this year, I think, so we should in good shape to burn the barrels.
