Trespassers confronted today

Well, on my buddy's new property to the east of me we had some trespassers on camera before the season. I was driving down the road today and saw them get out of their truck. Screeched on the brakes and turned around. Pulled into their driveway, walked into their garage, and introduced myself. They didn't deny anything. Claimed after seeing the cameras they turned around and got out of there. Claim they haven't been back since. Not sure I believe them, but made them well aware of the boundaries. Told them I am the eyes and ears and now the voice of reason. If I catch them they will be prosecuted. If my buddy that owns the property catches them, they will wish I caught them. I told them he just spent a ton of coin on the property with the sole purpose of hunting. If he catches them on there, "it will be like they just interrupted Bigfoot getting a piece of ass!"

I think they got my point. They wanted to know who he was. I told them if they were that worried they could look it up on the auditor's website, then try to figure out who owns "Catahoula Farms". If they wanted to continue trespassing, it is me or bigfoot. They actually took it pretty well. Apologized and claim they won't be in there again. Personally, I don't believe them. I kinda hope they run into my buddy one time while he is hunting.

I was kind enough to give them a card with my number. If they needed to recover a deer they were to inform me and I will personally escort them in tracking it and helping them drag it out. Plenty fair in my opinion.

Sounds like you handled it well... I personally would like to see your buddies reaction, the thought of interrupting bigfoot getting a piece of ass....I like that line! :)

Sometimes that's enough. We have had zero issues since I made my presence known at the farm. I was firm and direct in my "threats" and word got around. I heard through the grapevine that the suspected perp was clued in to my anger and decided to throttle back his antics. I think you did well Phil. Hopefully you have zero problems...

Sounds to me like you handled it very well, Phil. I doubt you'll have any problems with them in the future.

I was like a proud puppy telling Erin about my experience. She just finished a 12hr shift at the hospital and says "Okay, let me get this straight. You recognize a trespasser or two. See four guys going into a garage. Turn the Jeep around. Pull in and walk into THEIR garage to confront them? You are going to get yourself shot doing that stuff!" Only reply I could come back with (with zero hesitation) "Nah. There were only four of them. I had five bullets in the pistol." :smiley_crazy::smiley_cowboy:

I have done the same thing in the past. Come to find out I really have no say so and from what I been to told I am not aloud to confront a tresspasser if I am not the owner. I am not sure how true that is but it did come from a game warden. However i would do it again if the situation arose. Only thing I would say is, you should have given them his name. That way when they called or contacted them he could meet them personally and tell them HELL NO LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am setup as a "land agent" on the property. Basically have the same rights to do certain things as the land owner as written out by him.

the hunting laws used to say that if asked, you had to show your license to who ever ask you . not sure how it read now .
