Friend was just at a Toyota dealer getting his oil changed in his Tacoma... Speaking with the service manager he was told not to buy a Tundra as currently there's too many issues with them... If you bought one all the recalls have to be fixed before you drive it off the lot... Not the way to start out with a new truck... Esp. at today's prices....

IMO if you’re looking at half-tons, Ford and GM are the best options. The 5.0 is a tried and true Ford motor. But I don’t think you need to be as worried as you are about the Ecoboost engines. Ford has been building them for quite a while now and have most/all of the bugs worked out. I know several people who’ve owned the 2.7 and 3.5 L engines and all have had nothing but good experiences.

That being said, I think the 3.0L baby diesel that GM is offering in the half-tons is an attractive option, too. I really like the interior layout and amenities in my Chevy 2500.

As Giles said, get the F 150 with the 5.0 or if you need heavy duty get a 250. My last F 150 (2001) I sold when it had 320,000 miles and was still pulling the boat and trailers around. I have a 2014 F 150 with the 5.0 IN Florida, it has 112,000 miles. Kristi has an F 150 Roush with the 5.0 and my everyday vehicle is a 2019 250 Super Duty. You can't go wrong with Ford trucks, IMHO. FYI, I grew up with nothing but General Motors vehicles and after my first F 150, there has been no looking back.

Sadly all of the big 3 have recalls on trucks some worse than others.

Stopped and looked at Ford's today... Not bad but I think the Dodges interior is a little nicer... Material on the Dodge seats seemed heavier... No 8 cyl. in stock and all short beds...

Ive done some light reading on and off over the hemi talk since you mentioned it. Sounds like they will be bringing back all the hemi motors. Make me wonder if you will have an option to NOT have an E-Torque 5.7 in a half ton. Seems to be some issues with batteries on those models.

Yes I did read something about batteries... I want ONE BATTERY that starts car... So could be an issue...

Just buy a Yota and be done with it, or come back in a year and update this thread with your broken down, not worth a sh*t GM product like the rest of the pavement pounding, grocery getting, stuck on wet grass types😀

Good luck in your search!
