Truck Opinions....

I don't think anyone said to not buy a GM. Rich is plenty old enough to make his own decisions. I personally have no dog in this race but I enjoy the topic and haven't looked at new half ton trucks in a while. I was shocked to see that Toyota offered a longer bed with the crewmax cab. Turns out, it's only offered in the newest body style. Also learned that the 5.0 Ford trucks hold value way over the ecoboost models. I learned that Ram trucks will be offering the Hemi again too! Lots of learning going on here. Times change and so does demand.

Lol, I did! The old enough man wouldnt have created a thread if he didnt want info to help with his decision. If i was looking at a 1/2 ton, it wouldn't be GM. For what he's looking for, Yota is the best fit IMO, similar to others in his age and truck use application bracket.

I understand now. I read it as condescending. You are well known for defending GM! 🤣

I do agree, if I was looking for a brand new half ton truck, it would be a Toyota or Ford.

WHOA WHOA... WHATS THIS OLD MAN SHIT ??? I may be the oldest on the site at 75 ( this Nov. ) BUT... I still am getting around ok... Just to clear things up I'm not taking it offensive.... Ok... Now that we've cleared that up, back to the matter in hand... I appreciate all the opinions and comments... Let's face it every auto manufacturer has issues from time to time... They all produce lemons... I've never owned a GM vehicle but my son has a Chevy Silverado that he's had ZERO issues with and truck is great... My brother has a GMC Yukon from the early 2000's that he's had ZERO issues with... So it's a crap shoot as what to buy... I'm 6' 3" 225 lbs. so hip, head and shoulder room is important, this a full size truck comes into play... Dave seems to be the auto guru around here so I take his input serious and appreciate it... Gonna just have to take a day and hit all the dealer ships and see what floats my boat... Oh... And resale value is not an issue... REMEMBER IM OLD AND OVER THE HILL....:ROFLMAO:

That early 2000's era GM trucks are beast. I've been keeping my eyes out for a low miles one. That is what was in NJ a few weeks back.
My brothers is an SUV... He maybe had a brake job once... I'm driving around a lot and will keep an eye out for a GMC pickup for ya..

Any issues climbing in and out at 74? You're plenty tall enough, but mobility/ground clearance maybe a big factor to consider. Sure running boards will help, but I've seen those be a bigger issue for slipping, tripping, missing step than just being able to comfortably climb into the cab.

Nope... I get in and out pretty good for an old fart... Thank God that for my age I'm in pretty good shape... Not as agile as 10 years ago, but I still hang my own stands, lug bait in for the twins bear hunt... But as we all know that can change in a heart beat...
