Packed and ready to head south. Work today is gonna drag, tomorrow morning for the opener it's gonna be in the low 30s but gonna warm up quick and rest of the week is gonna be lows in the 50s so the birds should get fired up.

Opens tomorrow down here. I haven’t scouted or anything. The woods are flooded like late winter flooded that we normally get. Tons of people hunting, even more than lottery or either sex days. I’m expecting zero action, but I’m going

Got the first turkey picture at my place on April fools day. About time one showed up! Right before sunset.

Kentucky is a no go so I started looking into WV. I found a WMA that’s less than an hour from our property so I went down to do some scouting today. It looks pretty promising so if the weather is looking good as we get closer I’ll probably go for it. I found lots of sign and located some birds. I was on a ridge listening to a hen yelp in the bottom when another one flushed and flew out of the brush about 40 yds in front of me. I watched a Tom in full strut with a hen on a logging road and had another Tom run across the road in front of me to get back with the 4 hens he was with. Seems like they’re already cranked up down there. It’s a really nice area with lots of varied habitat and good access. We shall see…

0 for 3 here. Had some good hunts but the shooters fugged it up. Were spread out tonight trying to find one for the morning.

We were on them opening morning just couldn’t seal the deal. Played w them for 3.5 hours. We back at it heard a couple on the roost, seemed like a mile away. We will make an adjustment in a bit.

I hopped in a box blind to listen this morning. I can hear 4 or 5 sounding off. The 2 I heard from the house last night are just off of us but I would like the set up.

I ended up hearing 6 or 8. The 2 from last night had hens but came up onto the mulched ridge so we would have been in the ballgame.
