It seems to me the tricks and tactics I’ve used in the past no longer work... or the turkeys just ain’t acting right and have not since early in the season. Lol. I don’t think so. Good think it was simply that we were hunting turkeys that didn’t want to be seen or heard. Still, it’s only the second time all season I didn’t see a turkey. And both hunts were very short. Knowing they are around but refusing to gobble is just too much incentive to call it quits.Was it the snoring that caused that, Brock?
I think there are so many hens roaming around still because their nests are being increasingly predated on. Can't sit on eggs if they get ravaged constantly.Driving home from Hillsboro a half hour ago, I spied a lone hen picking in a field. Apparently she doesn’t know she is supposed to be on a nest! Dang hens out walking around and gobblers completely disappeared recently. Can’t say I’m disappointed it’s over for a spell.
