Turkey still setting on eggs

Working the cattle today and flushed a hen turkey setting on 9 eggs. She didn't flush till I was 10 ft. away. Scared the living dickens out of me.

Working the cattle today and flushed a hen turkey setting on 9 eggs. She didn't flush till I was 10 ft. away. Scared the living dickens out of me.

That's nuts. They take 28 days to hatch. And it should be 1-2 a day for a week. So if she was bred end of Turk season I could see it. Still pretty late though. But really. There isn't anything preventing them from breeding whenever they want in the summer. Especially if she has lost nests.

I'm guessing she lost her first nest due to water or predetation .
