My morning is over, didn't hear a thing, saw one hen in a field. Have a funeral to go to so it was just an early morning hunt.

Heard the first gobble of the season this AM, two long beards rolled in after two series of yelps and they responded, put the call down after that.
One lined up perfectly, popped his head off with a bullhead. Should have a video after bit.
LoL - well the browning game cam luck is holding!

Had couple birds early in the morning hammering but they had other plans and flew down in opposite direction. Gave up on them and went back and put the kids on the bus and did some chores. Figured I'd see if could get one to gobble on a place close by. I met up with my wife's uncle who apparently had the same plan. We walked the property made a few calls throughout with noresponse. We were just discussing how the property had changed and neither of us had heard a bird this year. As we were getting ready to walk out one sounded off within couple hundred yds. First gobble was at 1015. We split up about 50 yds between us to cover possible routes and started tag teaming the calling. Forty-five minutes later he gobbled his last gobble and had closed to within 50yds. I saw movement for a second then it got behind a tree right in my line of sight. I finally heard the leaves rustling close by and his head popped up in some briars about 20yds away. I let him have it and a bigger Tom took of trotting that I didn't know was there. Pretty quick season so now I can get some chores done around the house. 10 1/2 in beard and 1in spurs. Guess him around 20lbs. Good luck everyone.

The season is young but my vally has gone dry. Not one gobble in the last 5 days. Hopefully once this front moves off, otherwise it's just another dumb turkey season.

Birds gobbles intermittent from daylight to noon. Only ones that offered shots were jakes. May shoot em tomorrow if given the chance.

Same here in Jersey….gobbled their asses off then went silent after fly down. Stayed until noon and never laid eyes on a bird.
Been the case where I hunt the past 5 years too. I do believe we have shot the gobble out of them. Back when nobody hunted them around here they would gobble at a twig breaking at 10am all season long. We have killed all the fun ones and are left with the genetics of the silent ones, which hunting those kind becomes way too much like deer hunting for me to enjoy too much.
