I am looking to get a decent ultra-lite spinning combo for smallmouth fishing in small streams. I have a Wally world special that is getting wore out. I want to get a better quality one that I am going to put some 2 or 4lb line on.

Yes we are close to Cabelas. Actually we drive right past there when going to camp. I definitely don't want to big of rod as the streams aren't that big. Also this rod will likely just stay at camp so shorter is better as it is less likely to get broke.
I’m a fan of one piece spinning rods also, and with a 5’ your more apt to be one piece as well...
cabela’s in Columbus shows a sale for rods going on right now.

To each their own, but I think a 5' rod is asking for frustration with stream smallmouth. We occasionally run into some pretty nice fish in our streams and I don't think I could get a very firm hook set on them with a stubby ultralight.
I would also add that for me if I lose one, I won't lose any sleep on it. I fish more for the relaxation than for results. There are some musky in this stream though and I did catch one last year that was probably 20" or so.That makes sense. We run into a few much larger than that over here.
