That would be me. Sorry, I didn't leave a message though. Still waiting for a call from Rick and am starting to get nervous.
Just got in.....Please, for those who don't know and those who think they know. NEVER EVER track a deer without your BOW! The deer is hurt real bad and stood up on us~~Broadside..Nothing in the way...and no freakin bow! He stood and hunched his stomach like "Damn that hurt" then he just stood there for like 3 minutes and did not move....he looked sorta drunk.....he finally turned and sorta wobble-trotted towards the creek. We marked the spot and took bearings and got out for tonight. The hit was nearly perfect and he is bleeding pretty good. No sign of the arrow as of yet. Shot was broadside at 13 steps. It's gonna be a long night as I seen him twice today and he is a dandy buck! ZJ is very optimistic at this point...but I ain't kiddin'......I'm nervous as hell cause this is ZJ's best deer to date.

That is very promising! I am with EPE. I would bet if you went back out right now you would find a dead deer. HOWEVER, I think you made a good choice. I would wait until morning as well. If he is dead now, he will still be dead in the morning. Can't wait to see the pics! Congrats to ZJ!

Sorry I missed your call Diane, I was busy getting my fur room in order. Almost done with the surround sound in there, should be fleshing beaver this afternoon.
Back to the subject on hand. It sounds like the guys will find that buck this morning. Rick brings up a great point of never tracking without a weapon.

Just got up and waiting for a friend to call. Waiting for total daylight as it appears to have rained more last night. We both know the area real well so that should help. I appreciate all the optimism........I'm a wreck on this one. Promise to call Diane at first sight and let you know if we found him.
