Venison bacon: anyone here ever tried making it?

To call it bacon is a stretch imo. It's more a smoked sausage that has flavors similar to bacon.

If I had an abundance of ground deer meat I would try it.

I would probably get the kit from bearded butchers and follow their recipe because a) they are close to my location and b) the are Ohio based and I like to support local

I totally agree. A friend of mine makes it fairly regularly. Just like the Bearded Butchers do it. Is it good? Yes. Is it bacon? Not even close.

It’s specially seasoned and cured venison, smoked as a loaf, and sliced to simply resemble bacon. It’s bacon-shaped ground jerky is what it is.

It's basically smoked meatloaf to me
