Cool report Sam!

I just can't imagine driving with a license suspended, or with no insurance. Just can't imagine it.

My insurance agent told me 1/3 drivers actually HAVE insurance. That is a horrible statistic. Maybe we have an insurance agent on TOO that can verify this one. Seems high, but I have no reason not to believe him.

Ouch. He gave me this stat 4-5 years ago. I suppose it probably is higher now. No wonder I pay thousands every year for insurance. We pay extra to cover those who are underinsured or non insured. Buncha crap.

If I counted right there were 11 cars checked, 5 couldn't show proof.

I'll try to put this politically correct but there was a certain "demographic" that none were able show proof. :smiley_boos:

I can't believe people pull off to the left! Or worse yet, stop in the middle?!? What the heck?

4-5 lanes of traffic and they always radar the left (fast) lanes. When they roll up behind someone and turn on the blues I wouldn't expect them to merge 4-5 lanes of traffic just to pull over on the right. Stopping in the lane is bs. But I can understand pulling over on the left. When I got pulled over for tailgating a state trooper that was in the left lane going 60 holding up traffic I pulled left.

There is only about 4-5 feet between the white line and the concrete divider on 70. Both the ones that stopped there were still 1/2 way in the left lane. The kid that pulled left on 33 at least pulled into the grass median.

Honestly it was probably far more dangerous than just letting him speed. Think about it. The cop probably ran lights across 3-4 lanes of traffic. Everyone yields causing a chain reaction of people slowing down, moving over, making a hole etc. that goes on for miles if traffic is moderate. Then he is faced with either pulling over by the barrier in a tiny breakdown lane. Or merging back through 3-4 lanes to pull right while being followed by lights. Again with everyone making room, slowing down, etc. Then you have rubber neckers durring the stop. Then you have two cars having to go from 0-55 to get back in with traffic already going 50+. The odds of causing an accident is likely 1,000 times higher doing all that than just letting the guy speed. Or lazer somewhere else where it's safer. Catch them earlier or later.

Re-reading my other post I should also say they have a thankless job and have a hard row to hoe. If it wasn't for them it would be even more of a madhouse. I didn't mean to diminish the story. I see 3-5 cops a day on my one way commute. They're there by 7 and gone by 9 meaning they're jus looking for commuters with jobs who are more likely to pay tickets. sometimes I think their time could be better spent elsewhere besides picking on people going to work.

Way better. it'll automatically show traffic slowdowns and adjust destination times. User interaction reports will warn you of accidents, cars on the shoulder. Icy spots. Etc. it even has commuter groups of users who have the same commute. For privacy the other user icons aren't exact. There is like a five minute delay between where it shows them and we're they actually are. This way cops can't pinpoint who reports them.

I forget how many cops he said on the Columbus department, but it was over 1000. Only 10 are assigned to freeway patrol duty to cover day and afternoon shift. And if I understood him correctly only those 10 city cops have the authority to make traffic stops on the Interstates. Of course there are lots of OSP cars cruising the Interstates too.

I did learn something else, we mistakenly pulled up to an accident a 1/4 mile before the one we were supposed to go to first thing. There was an OSP swat team member there already. He was on his way to work and witnessed the accident and pulled over. In Columbus OSP has a swat team that drives pickups and has different uniforms. They don't have regular OSP duties, it's a special assignment.

I asked my sons about it. The one in California goes past the Waze office regularly, he didn't know what they did till tonight. So he goggled it, https://www.waze.com/about/team/ he said it looks like the management team is heavily Jewish. I said "You mean the people who were lost in desert for 40 years are in business giving other people directions??"rotflmao

I downloaded the app, it looks interesting.

Cool stuff. I listen to them every morning and evening on the scanner. 5-0 radio has the Columbus dispatch. Crazy the stuff that goes on. Most of the cops I see are OHP. especially in the county London is in. They have the peace officer training academy and the state prison. So you'll see 3-4 cops on 70 in the 5 miles through there generating revenue for cop town. There are two spots there that the ohp says are the most ticketed in Ohio. Something like 4k tickets each a year. They also have a section of 71 in that county. Same deal.

LMAO!

Well Sam you missed the crash of the day. Someone rolled an SUV on 670 Monday morning (near downtown, west bound)...I have NO clue how someone had enough room to roll it or how on earth they could manage that. Hope they were ok

At the bottom of the hill under the bridges? Someone always goobers it there. Every damn morning. Never fails. I always hear it on the scanner.

No, west of the downtown split. 5th coming off to 670. They must have been doing 70 or better into traffic. Rolled, and landed about 4 feet from the wall.
