Potential close call this morning. Always unplug your toaster after use. We've made a practice of this for like 10 years since we heard toasters causing fires if left plugged in. This morning I toasted a slice and noticed it was taking longer and saw toast popped up but heating elements were still bright orange. Hit the eject button and watched till elements turned off. For once I left it plugged in and started doing some work in dining room and needed something from shed(found dead mice) came back in 30 minutes after walking away from kitchen. As soon as I stepped into house I smelled something getting hot and I went straight to toaster and it came back on by itself.
Unplugged it and it's going in trash. It's a Black and Decker model that's only 3-4 years old but we're not taking chances. Glad I was home.
