Watch your puppies in wolf country!

I got into a pin with a large wolf a guy had as a pet years ago it was imtemdating as hell. I couldn't imagine a pack of those things running around. That video makes me think of all the missing dog posts on Facebook and think coyotes could be the culprits in some of those disappearance.

Exactly. When you stand next to one and their head is at your stomach, holy cow.....

I was talking with a buddy that has never hunted outside of Ohio, I tried explaining to him that certain parts of the south and the west have animals that can kill you while you are trying to enjoy a hobby. I think it is hard for a lot of mid western hunters to realize. I can honestly say, when I hunted certain parts of North and South Carolina and would be walking through areas with poisonous snakes and gators, I was extremely nervous and always extremely alert, it added another hurdle or variable to overcome. Hunting elk Colorado a lot the guys wouldnt leave camp before dark and made sure they were back by dark (or very close). I couldnt imagine the feeling of hunting grizzly or true wolf states, I guess its just something you deal with and keep in the back or your mind. Us Ohio boys have it easy

For snakes you get used to it like you said. Your behaviors adapt but your mind is always subconsciously on alert. I haven't hunted in the south in almost 19 years but last spring turkey hunting I instinctively jumped up like I was shot out of a cannon because there were a turtle 20 feet away that moved in the leaves. That distinctive sound of the slow crunch triggered a snake alert in my mind like it was yesterday.

Must be similar to the smell of a bear. That will stop you dead in your tracks. Ain’t no wondering what that smell is, it’s a stop and look around...it’s close.
