Water Treatment Plant Hacked

Damn, this could be a game changer. You thought remote access to our polls was bad, this is right up there!

Not a surprise. Pretty sickening if you ask me. That would be mass murder. Hope they catch the person or people and prosecute to full extend of the law. And then add a little bit more to it when nobody is looking..

As we continue to automate, this will become a more common headline. There's a manufacturer in this region that had some of their equipment hacked and it shut them down for more than a week. They lost 100s of thousands of $s as a result. Lots of automation out there with little to no cybersecurity presence to protect the infrastructure from attack.

Our village is 99% manual being that we are very small/rural area. Still an eye opening situation and a good time to sit all of our employees down and reiterate the importance of security. Even things like making sure plant gates are closed, doors are locked, etc. Gaining access to a treatment plant whether it be physical or virtual is not good. I am guessing some domestic terrorism charges could come into play as well...
