My old man bought this gun brand new a couple years back on an impulse buy. Paid $2,000 for it and it sat in the safe. Mom got cancer and he needed to cover some bills...so I flipped him the cash and told him I'd hold on to it for a while if he wanted it back. He told me today to sell it if I wanted.... I have zero use for a gun like this. It's never been fired and doesn't have a single mark on it.

What's something like this worth? I'm pretty sure I won't get my money back on it, but if the money is close, I'd think about letting it go. No scope and I can go open the safe if anyone is interested and take some pics.

Looking online they seem to have crazy wide range on prices. I don't "need" the cash or anything, so please don't insult me with a $20 offer. It doesn't cost a dime to sit in the safe...

Hey brother send me pics and I can get you an idea of price. They came in many configurations ranging from a used worth of $1,200 to over $3,000.

Lots of variations. Composite or wood stock being probably the biggest difference. .257 Roy is a popular caliber so that's a plus.

Realistic price is in the $1250-1500 range. If you have the original box and paper work that helps on price.

Very nice rifle. Hard to beat as a beanfield or speed goat rifle.

FYI the easiest way to get good pics (for an amiture) is outside on a bright overcast day.

Thanks, I'll try that. I do have the original box down in my storage area in my basement...somewhere...lol. I'm sure my old man has the original paperwork still in the safe as well.

I didn't have the box, my old man did. Lol

By "original paperwork" what do you mean? The little envelope that comes with it explaining the safety features? I have that along with the original lock.

YA. If you don't need the money, keep it. Beautiful Gun!

My guns and the type of critters I have hunted have gone in many different directions over my lifetime. Some day you may just have a need for a Weatherby .257
