Wondering what age y’all think a kid should be to be able to hunt alone.

I personally think it should be up to the parent or 12 .I dunno I think it’s absolutely ridiculous a kid needs an adult with them till they are 17 .

This should be changed in my opinion.

Thought's Kids are required to take the hunters safety course at 12..

I took the hunters saftey when I was 8. By the time I was 10 or 11 I was told to sit by that big tree and don't move until I come back to get you. Dad was usually within 100 yards but I don't really know if there was a stipulation back then.

Same when I was a kid.

Depends on the kid. Some 21 year olds can't handle their booze, but it's legal. It's a similar principle here IMO.

Indeed but a parent should have a better perspective on their kid than the state.

I do understand what you are saying.
I fully 100 percent in my heart trust my kid to be able to hunt alone, after 8 years of teaching.

That trust isn’t freely given by me it was earned over a lot of time and hard lessons 17 years old is just ridiculous.

Where are you getting the adult with them until 17 information?

Having this conversation with a buddy right now. You just need to know your kid and have them out enough for them to display the right things that give you confidence they will be just fine. The first several times I was never more than a hundred yards or so from them, hopefully within full sight of them to watch from a distance.
I couldn’t agree more. I’ve put the time in with my kid through out the years every kid is different by all means.

Just the same as every kid has different woods time than other kids.My kid probably has a lot more time in the woods than a lot of adults during season.

Was telling Giles the other day my kid finally had his first miss with a bow on a big 10 . He was upset by all means 23 yards . (Fist shot of year probably passed 60 or so deer) I told him a clean miss is way better than a wounded and not found.

Then I told him remember this feeling so when your talking shit to someone else when they miss you know the feeling.🤣
