Walbridge oh
Christmas 1978 this was under the tree. The old saying if this gun could talk fits in here. Can't remember the year I bought the slug barrel for it. Came with 30" full choke.

I still use the same Remington 870 youth model 20 guage shotgun that I killed my first deer with almost 25 years ago. I absolutely love short guns. Only difference is that it is now scoped with rifled barrel. Why? Because I don't shoot past 50 yards with a gun, and it does the job, and I'm too cheap to spend a bunch of $ on a new gun. Also has sentimental value which is priceless.

Well, as it turns out, I should've taken something with long range capability. Every deer that I saw today, was 100+ yards. Even so, I still enjoyed carrying the Marlin.

Tomorrow, I'll be carrying the Ruger American 450 Bushmaster with a 4-12x40 Vortex and my reloads of a Hornady FTX 250 gr. This rifle is unbelievable for it's accuracy with these reloads. Over 2500 fps with this bullet and 5 shots in 1 ragged hole at 100 yards. :sneaky: I replaced the ear busting factory muzzle brake with a linear compensator.
Confidence will be high!

Which compensator you end up with? Been contemplating a swamp on my ruger American as well.

This is the one that I purchased. (y) Hard to beat for $38 plus shipping.
Make sure you get the 11/16"x24 threads for the Ruger American rifle and the 450 Bushmaster caliber.
I had one on a Savage 243 and it made a huge difference in getting the blast directed away from the shooter. :)

Ruger American predator in 350 legend
But I have a Ruger American gen-2 coming in 450. Leupold Vx freedom scopes on both of them
The 350 is amazingly accurate but I keep hearing horror stories of no blood trails. And I experienced that on the first deer I shot with it luckily I did recover the deer.
I am hoping the 450 is as accurate with a little more knockdown power.
I have a friend who wants the 350 for his daughters so wasn’t a big deal to change over.

I'm sure you have shot it after installing the compensator, how big of a difference did it make?
