Hey buddy, you're a nite owl TOO I see. It's all DC blocks, DCC would be nice but that can present it's own problems I bet, plus that's wayyyyy too much money for all the engines I have. It would be nice though for the helper operations this layout requires due to the steep inclines. One tunnel is eight feet long & it's not fun if there's a derailment inside. I have concealed hatches on the mountainsides just in case. All the engines work pretty well together.

I'm not a night owl I'm 3 hours behind you. I'm station on the west coast. You cant run dc locomotives on a DCC track because the voltage on a DCC track are higher and do not fluctuate as you increase or decrease speed so the DC locomotive would burn up. You can run DCC locos on a DC track as long the decoder has a analog mode. If you do that though your speed steps will be out of sync. DCC can be pain to get setup but once you have the track polarity worked out on the turnouts to main line and all your locomotive addresses setup its a walk in the park. Once you do that DCC is really nice system to operate on. Its really nice not to have to mess around with blocks anymore.

Very impressive train sets Kevin and Tom! Totally blown away with Kevin's observatory building, that's TOO cool.

Anything to do with deer hunting is my number one hobby. Fishing, camping, gigging, hiking or basically anything to do with wildlife and the outdoors is very enjoyable for me as well. I also enjoy family vacations and traveling TOO.

Tom- You are full of surprises. Apparently a bit of a model RR geek too? lol

I tease but in all honesty, this is an amazing setup Outdoorsfella. Phenomenal attention to detail. You have patience and skills I cannot imagine.

First to the guys who are into trains, down in Westchester go to a place called Entertrainment Junction. It was awesome and completelyl worth the admission, especially if you are into trains or have little'uns that are.

Hobbies:
Been playing guitar for 14 years. I do children's worship at my church and was in a worship band that went to prisons around the state to play for the inmates before school got too time consuming. I play mainly country, some bluegrass, acoustic driven stuff.
Art - have done graphite drawing as long as I can remember, dabbled in ceramics specifically throwing on a wheel but don't have the time and $ for that. Currently a decent photographer can't wait to get back into it.
Aquariums - had a 70 gallon until it leaked about a year ago. When we move I will probably tear it down, reseal and start it back up. I like doing the low tech planted tanks that pretty much run themselves. I normally do a S. American theme with the fish.
Whitewater - was a whitewater raft guide for a few years in NC/TN. I have my own 2 person raft (shredder) and I go as often as I can. Looking forward to getting my son on some whitewater this next year.
Cooking - Alton Brown is awesome, nuff said. But I enjoy cooking, and making food taste good.
Shooting - I enjoy pistols, just picked up an AR, enjoy clays, etc. Also want to take some classes at places like TDI to improve my skills. Have done a USPSA shoot, a couple of appleseeds and looking forward to doing more.
Reloading - will be getting into this to help minimize the cost of the above
Hunting - well duh! Deer, rabbit, squirrel, grouse, turkey, pheasant are the norms, looking to get into coyotes and waterfowl and would love to actually put something that has feathers on the ground.
Fishing - don't do it enough but love to when I have the chance.
Hiking/Backpacking/Geocaching - yup those too
I've also dabbled in rock climbing, adventure racing, mtn biking
Edited to add
I also enjoy making a garden every summer and I'm into learning about the old ways to can, preserve meat, survive, etc.
I really want to do a pathfinder class and its on the bucket list.

I really like model railroads, if I had a suitable place I could really get into it. Thanks for posting the pics!

Aside from the obvious of anything related to shooting and hunting I'd guess I'd say my hobbies are. Computers, history(especially local history) and genealogy.

I am a bit younger then some of you but hobbies outside of all deer related.

1. Lifting, I have loved to lift since I started in about 8th grade, not overly strong but enjoy tossing iron around.

2. EATING and Cooking I love to cook deer especially try to show people I can make it taste better then some beef, I have been successful.

3. It is related to hunting, I love planting foodplots, and doing habitat management.

4. Drinking beer with my buddies, watching football, going to concerts, etc. Always a good time.

Amen to that. I suppose I missed cooking on my list of hobbies. I love to cook and it is something I truly enjoy doing. I'm looking to purchase or build a smoker before long so I can at to my list of things I can cook. I also plan to start a garden and canning this year. The goal is to start crafting and creating award winning pepper sauces/relishes/mustards.

Hunting an fishing,Shooting(bow, guns anything),camping,I have been a muti-instrument musician for about 18 years,I like to try different bourbon's an such,cooking,..I am sure I forgot some, but I am pretty boring overall..

Nice train layouts btw...My bro-inlaw built huge dinning room table with a see through glass top an put a train layout in it..I found it to be pretty bad ass..

I enjoy just about anything outdoors. Besides Bowhunting, I really enjoy bass fishing and just this year bought a kayak to get back into those hard to fish ponds at AEP.

I'll tell ya, just being out there on the water in that kayak is an enjoyable experience, regardless if you are fishing or not. I also enjoy golfing, although I'm not the greatest golfer. I'm somewhat ashamed to admit that I still enjoy playing video games, and cussing out 10 year olds while shooting them up on Xbox live!

hunting fishing is number one for me, also have a couple camaros and motorcycles i tinker with, do a little painting when ever a friend needs something done or i need some extra cash, i train in jujitsu and do a little bit of the mma scene as well havent fought for awhile just work out with the guys and let them beat on me a lil bit.thats about it for me.

Man, you guys are way cooler than i am. I hunt when I can. Fish when I can...and work all the rest of the time. I need a hobby.

No kidding bro. I feel the same way. I enjoy cutting firewood. It is either work, hunting, or chasing kids 3 different directions. Makes it tough to have much in the form of hobbies.
