The plot is coming up nice. I learned that I need to roll the seed in or it get washed down hill.

I have been pouring over a lot of public info/maps and possible locations playing with OnX. It’s almost information overload looking at all the info out there. I have found a few spots of interest based on my limited knowledge and from what I can see on my digi-scouting missions. 😂

So far my complaint with OnX is that their road maps and trail structure for OH can be confusing as it doesn’t always match up with what I see on the aerial photo(ex. I see what would appear to be a bunch of two track going all over Vinton but OnX doesn’t show them as trails/park roads. Also, it’d be nice to see some of the recent forestry info on OnX. I have been searching online (ex. clearcut, prescribed burns) then matching up to area on app and drawing that in myself.

I guess all that’s left is to get some boots dirty to see if 1+1=2.

Good luck! I love this kind of stuff, it’s fun to go out and match up what you’ve been seeing on a map to the real deal

Finished hanging the last stand on our number one farm. Nice set on an outside corner over looking a bean field. The stand is in a nice mature oak with two well used trails connecting some thick bedding areas. Some scrapes were already opening here. This stand is perfectly set up for using a decoy, and likely won't be sat in until late October. After the hour drive home I figured I'd change out the blind behind the house. It was getting torn and severely sun bleached. I set up a double bull deluxe, replacing an old ameristep. I also dumped some apples and more corn. Topped off the day's work with adding a new licking branch on the rub post I have in the clover plot. Well the prep work is done other than washing clothes, organizing gear, and some more shooting. Tonight I'll dream of cool, crisp mornings.

Frost seeded these and didn't treat them. I might next year, but the clover has been progressively choking the weeds out. I switched from sugar beets and brassicas, hopefully next year the clover really takes off.

I fed the skeeters for them all weekend! Them damn things ain’t messing around. Just went down to put the card back in the card and was gonna move the cam...nope! Barely made it to the first cam before wanting to burn the damn woods down!!! Just put the card back and ran back to the house. Over it...only time I’ve ever seen them this bad was Alaska. Never had them this bad in Ohio.

The farm I hunt spent all of last week under several feet of water and ruined all of our green plots. Stupid river.
So this morning I planted about a half acre or so of wheat to give them some fresh greens to browse on this fall.
I also hung a new stand on a new farm that I am hoping just might have some promise!!!

Here's a couple of comical pics from one of my cams. The card survived, but the cam went under and appears to be DOA.

Weren't bad at all up my way Dave. Granted, I didn't venture into the timber much. Did sweat my ass off though.

Do they hit that rub post and licking branch frequently? I just saw this. I'd been planning on buying a post for a couple weeks now. Today I finally went to Lowe's and got a 4×4×8 Douglas fir. Drilled a hole straight through it to screw in a licking branch. Planned on putting it in the field about 25 yards from one of my stands.

It took a week or two last year Chad. I encouraged them with a mock scrape and eventually got them to play along. The does were hitting it too. Still trial and error at this point, but I know it ain't hurting nothing.

Well I'm not sure what happen with Schaefer's Meat Processing....they never did call me back about when to pick up the 150 pound corn. They was supposed to call me last week Tuesday or Wednesday but never did. So...went to rural king. Bil went in to get the corn and said it just went up 50 cents more.
