Earlier this week I was lucky enough to take my target buck. While walking up to him I noticed a strong tarsal gland smell. While picking him up at the butcher, he also commented that this deer was definitely rutting...he hadn’t smelled a deer odor that strong in many years. He had broken one of his antler tips on his brow tine while fighting. I’m sure he was the bully in this part of the woods. Now here’s the question: since I harvested him, after about two days, I’m getting lots of pics of some REAL good bucks on camera. Do you think that because he is gone, the other bucks are moving in to take over the vacancy?...or am I just getting roamers as it is the rut? Here are some pics of the ones showing up...the ten point is a bruiser.
