Looks like a Pixie Bob cat to me. Looks similar to a bobcat. It is a cat that doesn't meow. It communicates by making a chirping noise. And also, I bet the owner is close by cause they tend to stay close to them....

You'd be surprised. I reported a bobcat in Carroll Co via email to the county wildlife officer, and the next day I got a call from the Wildlife Management Supervisor for District 3.

In your buddy's case, they may not necessarily call him... But I'm sure they'll joke with each other around the water cooler about the guy who thought that was a bobcat. lol
