I think I'm a grown man. I mean, I'm 36, 6'1" and 205 #s with 2 kids and a mortgage. But my freezer gets low enough and I'll shoot a net 6" spike to avoid an offseason filled with ham and turkey.

I personally don’t care how many times other people shoot. Never bothered me what so ever. I usually laugh when I hear three shots that usually means a miss.
As far as shooting a spike. I’ve done it. It’s been a while tho. That’s just my choice. In the end regardless ss of what ya get ya can’t eat the horns.
To be totally honest some places in Ohio mine was one of them for a while. I told the guys hey you see a doe and a buck together shoot the buck I don’t care how big or small it is. ( we usually try to keep it at outside it’s ears here unless it’s a kid they shoot what ever) You don’t got does you dont got deer. If I hadn’t filled my buck tag. I would in a heart beat shoot a spike over a doe here.
As long as your having fun, being safe. That’s what it’s all about.
Sometimes it takes some shooting to get the deer moving. Sometimes it hurts others or benefits them.

Years ago I went down to camp with Dr fuckface, sigafoose and them. One of them shot a one horn spike that he thought was a doe. I ragged him all night about his buck scored net negative 4.

And I know an 870 that has taken a bunch of shots and I swore every shot was a solid kill shot. Never once has it harmed a deer in my hands. Now paper, I can make it touch holes on paper. So almost every year, maybe that asshole slob is just trying to break the curse.
I also agree that taking a follow up shot is more eithical that shitty.

I believe that maybe the OP is referring to jumping a deer as your walking then letting em have it w/o much regard to clean shot on deer or safety to what lies beyond.

If I shoot a deer, even hitting perfect placement, I'll shoot again if it's running and I have a good opportunity for a second hit. 2 or even 3 shots does not necessarily mean someone was initially shooting at a running deer or doing anything unethical at all.Double taps....ensuring no suffering
I must just live in a different time period. Terms like bloodied his ass, got one hit but he's still going, both guys unloaded their guns, I ran out shells, I shot to turn him, got him on the 3rd shot, broke its leg, took a halo or hail Mary shot, shot at him on 3 different drives, got one wounded. commonly used language i hear used every year of shotgun...hardly anyone in my neighborhood gives two shits about ethical shots especially when antlers get involved just as long as they can slow it down to put one in its chest eventually.........
