Anyone know what kind of fish these are? They say there real good to eat. Caught in lake Michigan.

Pretty sure they are burbot, which are great eating . Could maybe be bowfin which aren't . Tough telling from the picture

My buddy caught one years ago up at the Soo when we were in college. Some of the Yoopers used to call them freshwater lobster too. Was decent but not great. Probably should have tried a couple different recipes on it.

I caught one out of the Ausable River above the Foote Dam in 1987. I didn't know what it was at the time, caught it on a Johnson spoon with a pork rind trailer. It fought like the devil, seemed mad as heck too. I couldn't get it back in the water quick enough! Wish I would have known then they are supposed to be great to eat. It was huge for a burbot too, 8 lbs, I think.

Ive caught a couple of those before, but not as big as those...they were squirmy and slimy and ugly as hell....who would have thought they were tasty? lol

I almost thought it was an eel or some sort of snake when I first saw them.
