Goodluck in your decision Dan. Alot of great advise so far. I need and want to get my first Longrange rifle TOO. First, I want a good hand gun.

Another facet to think about is what will the gun you choose be worth 10 years from now? At first, I bought guns specifially for hunting whether it was rabbits squirrels, pheasants, deer. then I started buying guns when they were offered at great prices, that I did not specifically need.
now I am looking at guns I bought for $150, now priced at $500.

Everybody wants a black rifle now, but there are a jillion out there. they will tumble in price some time in the future.

If you are still shopping I have a suggestion. Drive to Lima this weekend. Bring some cash, but leave it with me. It will be safe. I won't have time to go spend it. Take CJD/Beentown/Sam and several other peoples phone numbers with you. Walk around. See what you like and go from there. There will be more guns than teeth at the fairgrounds this weekend! When you are done, feel free to consume copious quantities of adult beverages with me and crash in the camper (or enclosed trailer with a cot or the bed of my truck).

Phil we're coming up Saturday - will be there about 3pm thru the evening - the wife and my neighbors are coming (doubledate - first class, takin' our wives to the flea market!)
Wish I could come earlier but wife has an appt to keep.

As I've been thinking, I'm inclined to do the AR thing....handled a S&W MP15 at a shop and fell in love. But gotta keep doin' my homework.
And yeah brock, that's a swweeeeeet piece man

If you find a style/brand of AR that you decide on and haven't found it let me know. I will make some calls and digging for a good price.

Good for you guys! Make them feel special while they are there Dan. Go the extra mile and buy them some of the roasted almonds. lol

FWIW- You will be on the side of town with Red Lobster, Texas Roadhouse, Applebees, Bob Evans, Cracker Barrel, Olive Garden, and several fast food places. Just in case you were thinking that direction. Then again, there are a ton of food vendors at the show this year. You cannot stop and pick up a pulled pork sammich from a Log Cabin built onto a trailer just anywhere. You can do so at this show!

Ha! You guys are funny. I've got ammo...and yeah, you pay for that stuff! I'll get around to shooting it eventually. Mason almost had me convinced we needed to shoot it the other day, but I talked him into going fishing instead. I almost always win those battels. :)
