What slugs do you use?

Good to hear. I bought an 1187 earlier this year as an all purpose gun and I'd like to put a little red dot on it for lead slinging purposes. Good for deer or yotes.

Before I went to Maine on my bear hunt last year I tested four different rifled slugs in my 1187.
1. Remington Slugger
2. Winchester
3.PMC
4. Federal
With the Remington Sluggers I could consistently shoot a 2" group at fifty yards with rifle sights. I had never shot the Sluggers because of the fact that nine out of ten of them rattled in the casing and I never liked that. Winchesters had always been my slug of choice and when I got down to testing the slugs guess which one shot the worst, Winchesters. The slugs I tested ranked Remington,Federal,PMC,Winchester.

In almost 48 yrs. of deer hunting with a shotgun and slugs I really haven't seen much difference in slugs.
I started out with a Win 1897 in 16 ga. and it shot everything OK for the 50 yds. I needed.
I always figured with a almost 3/4" hole I really didn't any expansion so never gave a thought on slug expanding performance.
Then I went to a Moss 500 with a smooth slug barrel and that's the most accurate shotgun I've ever seen and shot everythin just fine. My son still has it.
I now use a Rem 1100 12 ga. since 1980 with a smooth slug barrel and it shoots everything OK for 75 yds.
Remington slugs does give a slight edge but I buy whatever I can get on the cheap but always test and sight in the scope before hunting.

Now with the new PCR I'll use my Marlin 45-70 that shoots one hole groups at 50 yds. It'll do just fine out to 150 yds. I can reload my own rounds and won't have to depend on store bought shotguns slugs. Big improvement overall.

I am kinda used a lot of smooth bores over the years twenty years ago I bought a rem 1187 with cantilever scope mount and rifled barrel I keep a red dot on it . Where I hunt it is hard to get a shot over 100 yards it is plenty accurate I shoot 3 inch winchester premium shells in it they have a 50 cal barns bullitt at 2100 ft per sec

Not familiar with that slug. I thought only Federal used the Barnes bullet, and I thought even they discontinued that offering. 2100 FPS in a 12 ga round is way beyond what most publish.

Could you post a link to this round please
