the happiest days of my life have typically been from the end of October to the end of January, but over the course of time I have come to realize that every season, indeed every day, has its virtues. summer used to mean nothing but hard work and earning a living to me, but it is hard to deny the wonders of a fruitful growing season. so much the better when you can combine the fruits of your labor from the autumn woods with the fruits of your labor in the garden, berry patch, summer woods, etc.
tonight we had venison burgers with home made bacon, fresh sautéed Chanterelle mushrooms and Lacey swiss on a buttered, toasted Challah roll. white sweet corn, hot pepper poppers and icy cold Gin. livin' large, fellas.
the last of my fresh Chanterelles. already jonesin' for a fix. gonna go for one last jaunt in the mushroom woods tomorrow. let the dogs tree a few rats. good lord, I hope they aren't all dried up yet. either way, I'm really enjoying my food preservation-cation. need to go back to work soon to get some rest. :smiley_coolpeace:
