Hens are delicious. I wonder how many of these I've walked past in the last 35 years just because I didn't know and wasn't looking. I see mushrooms everywhere all the time now. I'd love to find enough of these to can some. I might be doing some more "still hunting" than usual from now on...

Last night dinner...

Southwest Venison Stir Fry
image.png

This easy dish can be whipped up fast and tastes great. You can add as much meat as you like, customizing to your own family’s needs.

1/2 Cup Peanut oil
1 lb. Venison Sliced
1 Poblano Pepper Chopped Fine
1 Large Onion Cut Into Thin Wedges
1 Tbs Balsamic Vinegar
4 Garlic Cloves Chopped
1/2 Lime
3 Cups Broccoli Heads
2 Small Heads Bok Choy Chopped
3 Cups Pea Pods
2 Red Bell Peppers Cut Into Thin Wedges
2 Yellow Bell Peppers Cut Into Thin Wedges
6 Medium Portabella Mushrooms Sliced
3 Tbs Soy Sauce

Heat peanut oil in frying pan just short of smoking, add meat. Cook 1 to 1 1/2 minutes. Add Poblano pepper, onion, vinegar and garlic. Cook 1 minute, squeeze lime juice over ingredients, set aside.
Bring oil up to heat again. Add broccoli, cook for 2 minutes. Add bok choy, pea pods and bell peppers, cook for 2 more minutes. Return set aside meat mixture to pan and add mushrooms and soy sauce. Cover and let simmer for 1 minute, then serve.

Wayment ... is that pic your actual skillet, or from an ad or something ???

It's a week old email ad from one of the gun retailers that I'm subscribed to. I forwarded that same email to the wife shortly thereafter and asked her to grab whatever she needed at the grocery store on her next trip. She ended up cooking it last night with some of our garden veggies and fresh venison from my most recent deer harvest. It was pretty damn good so, I thought I'd share it here with all of you.

I get pics next time for ya!

This was yesterday’s dinner but didn’t get it posted. Fried rice on the flat top and chicken breast on the smoker. I didn’t take a plate pic as I know I can’t compete with Jamie’s presentation haha.
