I found my first ever grunt tube at my parents the other day. This thing must be 20 years old!

My boys are driving me freaking nuts. They are cooped up, stir crazy, and annoying the crap out of me. How does one keep boys out of trouble? You keep them busy. Off to the woods we go. F550 is warming up. Chainsaws are ready. UTV is ready. Following the utv with dump truck warning lights on the 1/4-1/2mile down the road. Geoffrey and I cut and stacked a bunch in the woods the other day. Time to fetch it up. Not leaving the woods until the dump truck is heaping. If that doesn't take some energy out of them, it will take enough of my energy to justify a nap. I won't hear squat once my eyes are closed. Lol
Sounds like work Phil! I've officially boycotted work for the remainder of the year. Got a ton of stuff I should be doing today. Instead, I'm on the couch under a fleece blanket watching football and surfing the web. Needed a day to recharge the batteries. Got the prefect weather for it here!

I was fitting a new forearm to the the barreled action. The lip stick is used to find the high spots on the wood so you can get a nice wood to metal fit.
The mortising of the forearm is now fitted to the barreled action; now it just needs shaping and finishing.

When you press your semi inletted and mortised stock to the the barrel and tangs of the acton you will get pink spots on the wood. Those pink spots are the high spots. You use the your scraper chisel and or file to erase the pink marks. When you do that over and over again the pink marks will get larger until you get one solid pink mark on all contact surfaces. Once you get to that point you will find that you have a very nice fit. Its important to go slow and not try to anticipate where the high spots will be without checking. You can few different things other than lipstick like petroleum jelly mixed with graphite (cheap inletting black), black grease, and inletting black. Lipstick is a lot easier to clean up. I also have taken the butt plate of a few hand made muzzle loaders and you can still smell the perfume from the lipstick.
Never really got into watching series' but I started watching one on Netflix today called battleground Afghanistan. It's awesome, I highly suggest it to everybody. It gives you angles and shows parts of war I've never considered or thought about. It's a great series.
