Lined up 3 estimates for tomorrow which look to be promising. Two of them commercial plowing accounts. Hope to bring my "A" game to the table. It is tough to get in to bid these accounts, but usually once I am one on one walking the property with the owner or property manager I am pretty good about closing the sale. I don't want to sound cocky because all they are is estimates, but it is good to be in the drivers seat with the man making the decisions. I feel confident in our abilities and when they are shopping because the guy last year couldn't handle the accounts, this is where I shine. I know what we can handle and what we cannot. I think any decision maker with some time in can see the difference between someone that is confident they can handle the account and someone that wants the account but probably can't handle it. I have zero doubt we can handle these accounts. They are small compared to some of our other ones.

Good luck Phil!

Spent the evening last night running a chain saw and the weedeater at the farm in order to mark the creek banks for dad's impending weekend of brush hogging. He just ordered a 6' hog to go behind the new Kubota, so it should make quick work of the nastiness in the creek bottoms right now. I'm super pumped to see how things look from the ground blind and the buddy stand once it gets mowed off down there. I'll be able to set up the feeder down there as well, which will help keep the does coming to the core of the property. We left a few areas for "buffers" to allow for some cover, but most of it will get cut. I honestly believe it makes the deer feel safer once it is mowed because they are no longer walking through a tunnel of 8' tall weeds for 400-500 yards. Now they can hang out on the shelves above the creek bottom that are in the woods and see the entire bottom. We saw several deer staging on the southern shelf last year before coming down in the bottom during the last hour of daylight. I have two stands to take advantage of that this year, so I have my fingers crossed that we see the same activity this fall!

Hope it works out like you have it planned in your head Jesse!

Thanks for all the good luck fellas! Heading out here in a few for the first bid. I thought about shaving, but I honestly think a day or two of scruff, with a nice truck, well spoken presentation, and the look of a guy that isn't afraid to work is better than a clean cut poser. Pretty much a "what you see is what you get" approach. The look of a guy with field experience should exceed the look of a clean cut guy that gives bids but has never plowed snow in his life. You want an ugly picture, think of me after 2 days of plowing. lol

Finally broke down and spent some money on boots. My Wetland Muck Boots are great for scouting but have seen their better days. I ordered some Muck Woody Sport boots this time. Thought about the Woody Elite or Woody Max, but I don't think I need them down to -40 degrees. My Wetlands kept me warm on the majority of days in the past. Plus, I picked up The Warm Bag at the Deer and Turkey Expo last spring so on the coldest of coldest days I am sure my feet will be inside the bag anyway.

Now the question remains: Should I call them my Muck Woody Sport boots or my Muck Sporting Wood boots? Guess it depends on if I am seeing any good bucks or not.rotflmao

FWIW- $122 shipped off Amazon. Purchased through Hank's Clothing of all places. hahahaha
If I get 3-4yrs out of these like I have my other Muck boots I will be more than pleased. Should get a few more years in all reality because I will still be wearing the Wetlands for shed hunting and early season scouting as much as possible.

Life is good. Spent last night drinking beer around the fire and today shooting bows and playing golf. Sitting around the fire now waiting on pizza and the Buckeyes game! Lake Erie perch and warreye in the AM. Gotta love it.

Finally had time to hang some treestands yesterday. Last minute, I know... but it's better late than never. All three are in really good spots so I am extremely anxious for the 24th to get here. It's hard to beat a small stand oaks that are dropping piles of acorns when the rest of the property has virtually none... just sayin. :smiley_bril:

Just got done hanging two more sets. Man I am clumsy as hell getting stands hung. The set pictured below was easy because of it being a small stand but the second used a huge hang-on that weighs a ton. Bought killed me. Thank God for lineman belts!

Did you just update your app... That's tapatalks favorite way of forcing me to update the server code. Instead of making their new app work with the code I'm running thays stable and doesn't have bugs. They make the app do a version check and give some bs error like its my fault forcing me to upgrade. I've said it before and ill say it again. FUCK tapatalk.

Ill fix it when I get home.

Got the last of the ground blinds put in today. One is man made out of brush and is a great ambush spot. The other I made from old cedar fencing from my mom and dad's pool that they tore out. Got a nice shooting window and everything. All the stands are up and we are ready to go! This might be the most prepared I've ever been for season.

After a long and rough weekend out of town working a show, I was completely exhausted. Trying to stay awake to read with the kids and put them to bed, my daughter takes off. I hear a spoon working a cup and she comes back in with a cup of coffee. Her reply "Two sugars Daddy. Just the way you like it! I thought you could use it."

Just about bring a tear to a man's eye. I am so blessed. Money cannot buy the most important things in life. What a thoughtful little angel I have!

What's good? I found out over the weekend that I get 3g service if I hunt the top of the ridges behind the house! Play by play updates from the stand!
