Talk to me about hard top tri-fold truck covers. Anyone have one they like? Sumbishes are like $500+.. Crazy.
I have the OEM one that came on my tacoma, and came from a hard shell topper thinking I would hate the cover vs topper and must say I LOVE it. It does allow some minimal water in, particularly with snow on it melting but I keep in garage most of the time so it is a non issue. I also keep my gear in a jet sled in back which helps with the minimal water that does get in. Coupled with a auto tailgate lock makes it nice secure way to stash items. It can be folded back and locked in place for storing or hauling taller stuff. It isn't perfect but I do enjoy it a lot. I do carry a hitch hauler for larger cooler or deer so I can keep bed of truck clean/organized.

I actually have the 6.6 gasser, not a duramax. But you’re correct… valve body replacement at roughly 4k miles, due to a hard downshift into 2nd or 3rd at 150+ degree operating temp.

I don’t love the 10-speed transmission, but overall I love the truck. It’s the first GM vehicle that I’ve owned and I’m very happy with it. So much that I was just looking at a new ‘26 LT Trail Boss 2500 the other day. If they would’ve came up another 3 grand on trade-in, I would’ve pulled the trigger.
Welp, they got me. Gave me a deal I couldn’t refuse.

Ever since GM started offering the 2500’s in a Trail Boss trim in 2025, I’d been somewhat regretting the purchase of my 2024. I love the Lakeshore Blue color. I just didn’t love the chrome and the 18” wheels. I also really did not like the jumper seat up front.

So yesterday I finally pulled the trigger and traded-in my ‘24. 2026 LT TB, 6.6 gasser, with a full center console. Absolutely love it so far. The discounted price and the positive equity I had in my other truck allowed me to get into this one without much of a hit at all. Essentially I just reset my payment term and bumped up my monthly payment by 25 bucks.

That is a good looking ride! This summer they had one in town. It was a long bed trail boss in the silver with the black trim. It tempted me! Purdy sumbitch
