White Turkeys

One of my contractor buddies sent me this pic from his driveway. He is seeing them almost everyday and says the 3 birds look like albinos to him. I have seen smoke phase birds before, but not true albinos.

Domestic turkeys are white and on occasion cross breed with wild turkeys producing a white bird on occasion.

We have two pet silver turkeys, I will have to put orange collars/vests on them in April so the slob road hunters don't kill them standing in the cut bean field next to my house.

I looked it up and true albino wild turkeys are 1 in 100,000.

Those are called Jives. White Jive Turkeys were more abundant in the 70s, but obviously some are still in existence.

I have a white turkey that my dad killed mounted in my cabin. First saw it as a polt. Killed him as a 2 year old gobbler. Beard was black, eyes were normal so it was not an albino. It was definitely 100% wild.
