Good call Dave. When I worked with Hank, I had read to ride a quad with a cane pole out away from you to create your blood trail. Made sense. I can see where a dog would start following your scent.

They do overheat quite quickly so beware.
I always had water in the truck for just that purpose. In a pinch, throw em into shallow pool of water. Also, use their tale as a barometer. Get familiar with how it rides at the beginning of training and at the end. If it’s lower then the typical end of training during the training. Give him a break.
