We had 5 doe eating, 4 left quickly along with all the birds. I should have known the last one was extremely nervous. Qtr too but it spun away from me at the shot (35 yds) and the sound was not good. Deer did not follow its friends. Tracked 60 yds and there is no arrow and very little blood. What little blood there is appears to be really dark though. Deer veered off tractor path, I marked the spot and backed out.
Maxx is gonna get a workout... tomorrow.

Here’s hoping it’s a short track in the morning!

Wow! What a trip! Came around the old farm house an had a major 22 turkey distraction at 30 yds. And of course right where we needed to start. Plus all ran where we were going... Maxx was running crazy w/his head up. Took 4 restarts but he finally (sloppy) lined out on it. About 400 yds he done a 90° right and headed in a sm thicket. 2 beds together and 2 more in about 40-50 yds. Maxx chewed tail in 4th bed. Still no arrow yet...
Gooboy Maxx Dawg!

We did get to do a track Monday morning.
Hunter's 5 yr old shot a buck. The Dad is color blind. Arrow was looked at by a tracker friend. I was told "gut matter on arrow and a smell" Maxx was on it... seen 2 spots of blood and Maxx just lost intrest. Did a restart and "Dad" started the "We went a long way, that deer will live?" He then made it pretty clear he was done with it and was ready to go to the house. Grabbed the arrow on the way out and there was no matter on it, only a little fat. Some of the information was not adding up at this point. I think there's a great chance that deer will live, but I sure would have liked to finish that track out and known positively.
Positive note: He is part of a 4 farm group of hunters that are connected~~and they loved Maxx.

Well, thats a rap for now. Very grateful for the members we got to see and even meet this year. You fellers that follow along helps keep us going when its rough. The jokes, suggestions and banter help as well. (Some of them peeps out there are fuggin wrapped wrong) 🤣
We ended the season with 22 finds. 13 of our dead ends came back on camera. Have not heard anything (yet) about leaving a deer laying in the woods. (It can happen).
The lessons are never ending in this sport. Thats for sure! Hopefully next year is even better. Thanks!
