A Fisher stove my grandfather used and passed to us which we used for two seasons in our living room 19yrs ago. It's been a garage stove since. It's going to heat the kids wing of our home. Needs TLC. Where does a person get high temp paint for such a thing? and can it be done without high tech painting equipment?

Fischer stoves are GREAT... Had one years ago... IMO one of the best stoves made...

I ran out of time to repaint it and had to start heating this house up with the cold nights the daytime temps aren't warming the place up enough for paint poly and mortars. rusty will get a new paint job next summer. I love the screen that came with these stoves. I'll be spending most every night looking at flames this winter.

After a few weeks of heating with this old fisher stove we are going to swap it out for our newer (15-18yr old) hitzer stove. Yesterday's 50mph wind reaffirmed why we switched out initially. With no internal baffle or shelf this old stove is not efficient enough to heat the space we require. The hitzer can heat up to 2500sq ft and has an automatic magnet damper to set the side wall of the stove to a certain temperature. The newer stove also has an internal smoke shelf to devert flame and burn gases off plus a blower. This old stove is a straight pipe with just a pipe damper......last night I couldn't get this stove hot hot safely with the heat being sucked straight out the chimney with only a pipe damper to slow it down. I tried for nostalgia sake and will still hold on to this stove but it won't be out full time burner.

I ran a Vermont Castings stove for years and really enjoyed it. It has a catalytic reburner, damper, blower fan accessory etc. I installed a pipe damper also to better lock down the burn rate. I probably put 100 cords through it when i lived in Ohio, the only problem I had was after all that wood the back firebrick needed replaced but i still ran it anyway.
