It seems a lot of ppl are 30+ minutes. I'm thinking I'm gonna do it. I hate having to commute to hunt and I enjoy being in the company of people that enjoy hunting and the outdoors. Back in my hometown it was always a blast going in the bar after rifle season and everyone talking bout their bucks or the ones that got away. Also I'm not a fan of having to commute to shoot my bow either. Setting aside 2 hours just to shoot my bow for an hour is outright annoying.

I drive 30 minutes(20 miles) each way to and from work. I don't mind the drive because I have a nice little spread(3 acres) tucked back in a small woods where I can shoot my bow and watch wildlife. After 5 years of living here and a lot of door knocking and making myself familar with many of the local farmers I've gained permission on some of their farms for shed hunting and deer hunting. Just takes time to build relationships and trust.

If I were you TeeJ, I would find someplace off I-70 just 5-10 minutes and somewhere in the near the middle of Columbus and Zanesville. IMO, don't get to close to Zanesville cuz it's a real pain in the ass and drain on your wallet if you drive TOO far each day to work. I'd try to find a place where you can shoot your bow/or guns, cuts the distance in half to your hunting area but not making your drive to work TOO difficult and bothersome. Good luck

If I where you I would look Somewhere in between work and hunting spending 2 or 3 hours a day in a vehicle is just not my idea of fun.
I also work in Columbus I live outside of centerburg. A 30 minute drive most days about 24 miles. I can hunt
Here during the week , weekends I hunt hocking and Vinton counties a 2 hour drive. I do have a very primitive cabin down south so I can stay Friday and Saturday night.
My suggestion would also be to buy a chunk of land now it does not get cheaper. I bought the 14 acres here in 86. Within a few years land out here skyrocketed!
Good luck
