When the license structure changed I was looking at having to buy the Non-Resident hunting license for my 14 yr. old son this season. In the past youth hunters from out of state purchased the regular junior hunting license and junior deer tag/turkey tag. I called the local game warden down there in Meigs County the other day for a question on a similar matter and was surprised to hear that the ODNR had reversed the requirement on the 28th. of September for NR youth hunters. The way I understand it NR youth can get the youth hunting license (for both resident and NR) for $10.00 but have to purchase the Non-Resident Deer Permit for $41.60. Seems like a fair trade to me. Like he said, youth Non-Residents are always accompanied by Non-Resident adults and their feeling is to encourage family hunting like that. He also said that there were many who purchased the NR license for their youths this year and wasn't sure if the ODNR was going to give them a refund or not.
