I am really proud of ZJ and also of Rick. When those two first decided they would try hunting together, it truly changed ZJ's life. That was when he became a man in his own right.
I always stay out of their hunting trips as this is the one time that ZJ gets to be a man and do something he is proud of without it being a “mom and me” thing and I think that's important and good for him.
When I dropped him off at work this morning, (a handicapped workshop that he goes to 3 times a week) he was proudly carrying the pictures of his buck and couldn't wait to show everyone. Trust me, he will carry those pictures for a couple of weeks, just in case someone missed seeing them!
It really is amazing how much hunting has changed his life. It is something he is so proud of, asks about all the time, and he never gets discouraged. He always has the right attitude and says, “maybe next time I'll get one”.
And after we got his buck skinned and quartered yesterday, what does he say? “Now I can hunt does, right?”
It has been a great season and we are truly blessed. Not just this hunting season, but in life.
