End fall turkey season!!
Open raccoon season
Stop baiting altogether
Trapping season for bobcats
Raise non resident permits or make Ohio a draw state
This one gets my vote.

I also think it’s worth reminding you all that the overwhelming majority of successful deer hunters kills less than 2 deer in an entire season. The deer numbers on public land (by and large) have rebounded. That’s why it’s being proposed to increase the public land limit.
Serious question… Of those of you in this thread that have indicated your disagreement with killing two antlerless deer on public land… How many of you actually hunt on public land?
Like I said earlier... Reciprocal license fees would be great.... Jon and Dan paid $135.00 for a non-resident license in Jersey so that would mean I'd pay $135.00 to hunt Ohio... Plus they could shoot 2 bucks with that license... Oh and their bear tag was $2.00... Funny I never hear guys bitching about non-residents coming to hunt our bears, instead some knew I had 2 guys coming from Ohio to hunt bears... Instead of bitching they gave me their phone numbers to give to Jon and Dan in case they shot a bear, they would come and help get it out of the woods... So you guys gotta lighten up a little about non residents... It gets old...I would also like to see : What ever it cost for an Ohio resident to hunt your state it will cost you the same to hunt Ohio.
If you have to pull a tag /earn points to hunt a deer in your state. Take the average stats say it takes 5 years to get a tag to hunt white tail in that state.
You wait 5 years to come to Ohio to hunt and you pay what ever the cost to be in drawing is for 5 years.
What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. If I can’t go hunt your state openly for white tail you can’t come to mine.=
Some areas have decent deer... Where can you shoot world class black bears for $2.00 ???How many Boone and Crockett bucks does jersey have?
Every year Jersey has a deer classic... This photo is from 2020 I believe... Most guys on this site would be happy with one of these....How many Boone and Crockett bucks does jersey have?
No offense, Fletch… But most hunters don’t care about hunting bears. That’s reality. Also reality, this past season, Ohio became the FIRST state ever to sell nonresident tags to hunters from EVERY other state in a single season. That’s some serious demand for a quality product. Some areas have decent deer... Where can you shoot world class black bears for $2.00 ???
No offense taken... Probably more hunters than you think would jump at the chance to hunt them .. They just never had the chance... Ask Dan if he's crossing off the days till next Oct...No offense, Fletch… But most hunters don’t care about hunting bears. That’s reality. Gern.... Not monsters by no means, but here's 2 Jersey bucks I'll be chasing this fall in Jersey... Far cry from an Ohio booner but they made it through the season and should be dandy big woods bucks this fall... No ag fields for over 20 miles.... And Jon hunts this woods for bears so who knows....How many Boone and Crockett bucks does jersey have?
Not gonna lie they're on my bucket listNo offense taken... Probably more hunters than you think would jump at the chance to hunt them .. They just never had the chance... Ask Dan if he's crossing off the days till next Oct...
I believe that the object of the thread is bettering Ohio hunting... It seems that the non-resident issue always comes up... Money makes the world go round... I'm all for making things better and if that means I gotta dig deeper in my pocket then I'll pay my fair share... But let's not just go after the non-resident... Let everyone contribute a little more... Outfitters do they pay for an outfitting license in Ohio ?? If so bump it up... If they don't, them they should start paying to operate... Lake Erie fishery should be generating money... Bump up the fee for charter boats... Plenty of ways to improve things....
Yeh they are... Esp. for the area they live in... Very large woods with no food other than mast crop... Here is the 9 point back in Oct. very big body... He disappeared never to be seen again till Jan...Darn nice bucks!
If fish had antlers, they wouldn’t want non residents to go fishing in the state either. Antlers make people go crazy…..the I, me, mine syndrome. Some people may get angry at that statement but if you take a step back and think about it, you’ll see the point. No offense taken... Probably more hunters than you think would jump at the chance to hunt them .. They just never had the chance... Ask Dan if he's crossing off the days till next Oct...

The Amish take take and take some more from our local public lands. The deer numbers on public land (by and large) have rebounded. That’s why it’s being proposed to increase the public land limit.

It's terrible here # amishmafia. Then again most of the locals in my area are just as bad , for every 10 hunters I run into i can honestly say only one is upstanding. Truly ruined public around these parts , it's more of a party for themThe Amish take take and take some more from our local public lands.
I personally have been wanting to take a public land doe for a few seasons and just can't find a pocket with enough to take from. Not in my area. We had snow on the ground for a long while and I did some scouting for next year. Looks like I'll be traveling to scratch that itch.
Much appreciated! I just may be in touch , dan did say he wants to chase more animals togetherYeh they are... Esp. for the area they live in... Very large woods with no food other than mast crop... Here is the 9 point back in Oct. very big body... He disappeared never to be seen again till Jan...
Buckeye Guy... Pm me if you want and I can point you in the right direction for bears...
