Jack - that line in the story was for you...

I want some more! Gearing up and headed out. This hobby does not mix with my college schedule - my body thinks it should have gotten into bed a two hours or so ago and this is prime sleep time. Oh well

Man oh man, I was thinkin the whole time I was reading this thread "Well, there goes the college degree out the window!" LOL
Nah, J/k, I'm confident that you'll be able to pursure the new passion and still keep up with your commitments.
(just read my sig line)

Don't forget the 3-d target and shooting out the window as if it was an elevated platform and a trail cam too :D.

Go get um Cap't !!!!!

We should take up a donation so he can put a BEC somewhere to show us two legged white tails. LOL

Great read Steve! It's not often a guy sees, or let alone gets a shot on his first bow hunt.

Kudos to you Adam for setting up Steve as you did, you are a hell of a friend!

Now get back out there and bring home some meat!!!!

Got skunked this morning til I climbed down and saw a doe and fawn on the neighbor's property, 300 yards and right in front of his platform blind. It was a little chilly.

I will be headed out in the afternoon to where I was yesterday and will hit er again!

Dang... It was a chilly one today bud. Nothing will run you out of a stand faster than being cold.. But you should really try to hang in with a stand until 11:00-11:30. I can't tell you how many deer i have shot at 10:30.

no doubt, there is a lull and then they tend to come back out around 10:00 or so. I have seen it many of times. I am pumped for you steve, its a passion and its very addictive. What I am really pumped about is all these guys helping you out getting you all set up. When I first got into it I didnt have anyone to help me out until I got on OS and met dale, he helped me out a ton and then I became friends with alot of the guys on here and its been interesting. you made friends with some good dudes after all the B.S.

Goos times buddy, cant wait to see the first bow kill picture..hang in there, it will happen.

That's funny you guys mention this. I know I mention my dad on here alot and rightfully so, he's been my outdoors teacher. That is one of the first bits of advice he gave me. He has always said that the deer start moving again around 10:00 am. I feel like the water boy here.... my mama says foosball's da devil...
My daddy says da deer move at 10.

He always talks about, and yes he repeats in his old age, how more shots get fired around 10 during gun season and how he killed this deer and that deer around 10:00.

Glad to hear you guys see this too. For a while there i thought my scouting style lent itself to me always picking spots where the deer always showed at 10:30..L... I have often wondered. We all see things different in the woods. With some observations being the same, and some depending on the location of the property. One guy sees a hotspot, the other never even sees it. I was thinking for a while there i was the KING of scouting 10:30 am spots. LOL

Steve, it sounds like you are hooked now! Great read! Welcome to the brotherhood, or as I call it, the point of no return. Bowhunting is the most enjoyable and frustrating thing I have ever done, but I love it. Good luck this evening and tomorrow if you head out, and if you get another chance to shoot, don't miss!

I'm happy to hear you had some action on your first bowhunt, Ernie. It's too bad it didn't end with bloodshed but hey, that's bowhunting brother. Those close up shots are not as easy as they seem to be. Inside 10 yds, usually you have to aim HIGH instead of low. I think I use my 30 yd pin at that range. Anyhow, I'm glad to hear you're so excited about being a bowhunter... I have no doubt that you'll have many many great experiences in the deer woods this season.

BTW, there are some great quotes in this thread... that pre-hunt prayer was awesome! And Joe, I'm gonna have to use your line about your wife and your A-game next time I get shook up by a deer. That stuff's priceless!

Congrats on a hugely successful first hunt Steve. It in your blood now, no turning back that is for sure. You are officially a crack head just like the rest of us sickos with bows in are hands. Best of luck and stay safe buddy.

Cool of you RC to let Steve out on your property like that. Way to go to help the addiction.
