My muzzleloader

This is my first gun. I purchased it last season a few weeks before the muzzleloader season. I have a Bushnell Elite 3 9x40 scope.

Savage ML-II

I went with this gun because it was designed to shoot smokeless powder. It shoots clean.
I'm shooting IMR SR4759 @43grns, Hornady XTP 250 grns and MMP black sabots.
Velocity 2,330fps, Energy 3,015fpe.

Considering I am golden out to 250 and could be better with better optics, and that being out of a CVA Kodiak with 777 and powerbelts, I imagine with those velocities he is good for further.

That's a sweet gun Mike! I'd like to pick me up a Muzzie before the ML season rolls around in Jan., but it's not looking like it's gonna happen anytime soon.

It's a good M-L. I've had one for 4 or 5 years now.

I've never shot one but have always heard good things about them. It seems like a ton of guys shoot TCs and CVAs, so it's refreshing (not that those are bad guns) to see something else - I love my Remington Genesis, I just gotta shoot a deer with it!

I'll be purchasing a new muzzy this year if all goes well. I love shooting them and plan on building one this winter for use next year. Should be a fun time!

It is good you purchased it when you did.

Savage just announced that they are stopping production of the ML 11 muzzleloader.

I have 6 muzzleloaders and my 3 Savage's are by far my favorites for a bunch reasons from cleaning to performance..

Sales, just not enough volume to justify continuing production. They didn't seem to market this gun very well and there has always been some resistance to it including some states that don't permit it's use. Even on this thread there are some members that didn't know it existed.

Liability? I don't think so. It is the safest MZ I know off. If you don't seat your bullet firmly enough or if it were to somehow move off of the powder it will not shoot. Smokeless power needs some compression to ignite, unlike 777 or Pyrodex

Parts and support will be available for a long time.

The value of you gun just increased, not decreased.

They (Savage) still have a line of Muzzies that are made for smokeless. Kinda pricey though $500+

Those are the ones that are being discontinued, the ML 11's. Their Cabelas, black powder model, venture last year didn't work well in terms of sales either

I have 3 that I shoot a lot, all smokeless. Well worth the extra price to me

My son and I finally got to shoot both our Savage 45 customs today for the first time.

Sunday we shoot at longer yardages and get them dialed in.

I shot Thursday and got dialed in pretty well, for an amateur, at 100 yards. I love this gun and I'll only get better the more I shoot it.
