That's right and I completely support the mullet as some of you could see with Klay's mullet. In fact, Moundy and Klay have a slight likeness.

I sure miss your mom Moundy. Ain't seen her since we were 17.

Ahh if you'd cut the front of his hair it would be a good mullet, and as a young kid, he would be the coolest kid in school!

Yeah she told me about a man she met at Strouds with a mangina..this is clearing things up lol.

Sounds like everyone had a great time, that is what it is all about!! I do have to ask though, since this trip began based on the the word that Athens county is just loaded with deer, did everyone's deer sightings within Strouds Run State Park confirm this?

I think most everyone saw deer. Not a great many, but considering the windy and rainy conditions, it was pretty decent imo. Mason and I went down a couple days before season came in. We rode around the park and surrounding area with Mrex...we saw 79 deer. There doesnt seem to be a shortage in Athens!

Would have to agree with Brock. I didn't see a ton of deer from stand but in 2 days seen more then I have in 80hrs in my own stand in north central part of the state. I also seen a ton more deer on the roadside after dark then I have seen here so far this season. You local guys down there may see fewer deer then years past but if you want to really see less deer come on up, I have a stand for you to look at leaves and watch tree rats out of all day long.

Yep. The deer density is WAY different. Counting deer that I spooked I saw 19 total while hunting. From the road....didn't bother counting. Damn ditch eaters...

When I hunted Hocking and Vinton last year I was amazed. Compared to Allen and Auglaize you guys are loaded with deer. I didn't make the hunt but I am glad LWNoPack asked. I was also curious what the perspective of some of the northern hunters were.

No doubt the Strouds run area has an abundant deer population. Although I only saw 3 deer in my 9 hours of hunting I hold the less than perfect weather conditions to blame. IMO, they just weren't on their feet much.

Most of the ones I saw I spooked on the way in. All within 40 yards though.

Mason and I saw 6 while on stand. I believe there were only 5 deer though, as I think the one we saw Saturday morning was the momma of the BB he killed Friday evening...she gave us the stink-eye from the ridgetop where the bb croaked.

For some perspective, we killed a total of 5 deer over the weekend. In Fayette so far this season, there have been a total of 23 killed. None of us were "on home turf"...we did alright considering conditions and the fact it was new area.

Good point Brock,

How many of the 5 deer were taken on Public Land actually within Strouds Run? I thought some were hunting private but I wasn't sure since I was popping in and out of the camp on Saturday? Been, did you and Diablo have any luck on Sunday morning?
