It was great to get out of the house today and check cams. I'm ready for what little time I'll have to hunt this weekend. Jack was still alive as of Monday and is visiting the corn 4-5 times a night. I had several good pics and will get them up tomorrow. That definitely made my day!!!

Playing phone tag with Riverdude! I should have time to call you this morning Jeff. I went to bed early last night as I was expecting a call around midnight telling me we would have to be in there early today. Joie told me you called, but she let me sleep.

Congrats on the mallard Chuckie!!! :smiley_clap:

The baby is sleeping most of the night already and that is simply TOO good! I went back to work yesterday and it is kinda nice to get out of the house, but you sure do get used to being home!!!

If you need an extra Truck this weekend, shoot me a text Gordo. The wife is working all weekend, and I don't have much going on. I had planned on doing some hunting, but it looks like it's suppose to rain through Tuesday

Burned thru 2 tanks of gas in 3 chainsaws today with my Dad. It was good to get some wood cut to length and stacked in my woods. It was better to get outside and enjoy the outdoors with him. At 65yrs old, he can still hold his own with a chainsaw. He slowed down for a few years after his quadruple by-pass at 59. I feel blessed to have him still. Blessed he is back doing most of the things he enjoys (still not back to riding dirt bikes). Blessed to have been able to spend the time together with him today. Too many people lost their parents early or don't have a good relationship with them. I try not to let him over do it and try to avoid any extreme weather conditions for him when we work together. Man am I going to be sore in the morning. We cut a ton today!

That's " makes ya feel good" news Phil. I got to spend some time with my dad today TOO. He said his butcher knives were getting pretty dull and wanted to know if I had time to sharpen them. Took me dang near two hours, I swear he goes out and cuts barb wire with them, but it definitely gave us some good catching up time. I got ready to head out and he whispered "your mom just don't get it when I try to tell her how nice that red oak firewood split today". Good times.

Thanks guys. I know I have posted similar before but it is TOO good every single time.

Ricer- I loved your reply. My dad has his wood burner in the house. Think it is a Buck stove. Can't remember brand anymore. Nice unit. Mine is an outside boiler. He makes comments about how it burns or splits all the time. Also talks about the smells and such. I swear I am just throwing in anything. Seasoned or green. Split or whole rounds. I have more stacked and split for him than I do myself right now. Wonder if we will talk about stuff when we are older and have our kids say "Dad is weird. Why does he know which trees split the easiest?" Lol

That's amazing that your little one is sleeping most of the night Jesse. You are very lucky, and I don't mean just that you are getting your sleep. I think back some almost 22 years ago, my twins birthdays are Monday the 14th, how precious sleep was when they were up every three hours ready to eat. But ya know what, I miss getting up in the middle of the night to warm a bottle or change a diaper. Now I'm telling them how proud I am of them for beginning their junior years in college and keep getting good grades so they can support their dad in the future. Haha And who knows they may have to get up in the middle of the night and change my diaper. :)

Also congrats to ya Charles on your mallard! Good job!

I already notice being like my Dad on a lot of things. That is not all bad. I could not have Mail Ordered a better Mom and Dad. Just glad I got to tell them this before they left.

I'm super stoked this morning!!!

My buddy and I have drooled over this piece of backwater for years, but we never pursued it because we were certain it was off limits. Turns out we knew the owners the whole time and there is safe shooing to be had. So my buddy built us a blind yesterday and I'm headed to his house for my first duck hunt of the year!!!
