Got the green light for tomorrow. Church until 1130. Garrett has baseball clinic until 1. Then it is hitting the woods with my son until dark. Hoping to find something.

Thanks Ron. I am sure we will. Any day in the field with a friend or family member is a good day. I appreciate it.

I'm gonna try to get out some before this rain. Several farmers sprayed their winter wheat fields in anticipation of the wet weather this week and greenup is gonna explode. Dang it, cuz some are still carrying? WTH?

Garrett and I hit it pretty hard this afternoon. Nearly 3 hrs on the quad is covering a LOT of ground. Ended up finding one. Rather disappointed given the bucks I saw in the area all last year. There are a couple properties I don't have access to which might be holding the missing antlers. If they are not on those properties then I haven't a clue. It is just weird but then again 3 weeks ago we had a group of 6 all still carrying as well. Plenty possible there are a handful hanging on still I guess, but it is hard to believe. They should be growing right now.

Good for you guys! Great find, at least you found one.

I went for about 2 hours and tried to find the rights of the last two I found. No such luck! Oh well, I had one of the best shed years ever. No complaint here! I may find one or two mushroom hunting, but I am pretty much done. Work is really piling up at home and my job.

Congrats Phil and Garrett! Nice mass on that one but TOO bad it's busted up though.

I went out for a quick check(1.5 hour brisk walk of two farms checking mostly fields a bedding area fringes and came up empty. Some are still carrying by the sounds of a few friends sightings in the area.

I mowed our lawn today and cut some firewood this weekend which needed done. Feels good getting that put behind me so if it rains some this week I might hit it again but I'm winding it down. Greenup is rearing its ugly head so to speak and I'm starting to think more and more about turkey hunting. I've seen and heard lots of them on my shed hunting trips and need to clear out a few setup sites.

Just got home from the 65 property. I had the pulverizer attachment on my tractor and got some stuff done on food plots there. Wish I didn't run out of seed or they would be done for the year on that property. Just trying to bang out my personal projects before the weather kills me and work piles on top of my stuff.

Well I'm pretty much winding my shed season down as mentioned before but still plan on getting out scouting for turkey season and prep some turkey sets while keeping my eyes peeled for sheds.

I view my shed season as mildly good to slightly above average. I found 20 sheds total with one busted off tine from a fight a year ago. I got some much needed exercise and enjoyed just getting outdoors. I walked many miles for those 20 sheds and am just disappointed in the size of the majority of my finds.

Its always a great feeling to find "any" shed but every shed hunters dream is to find at least a few true "dandy" sized sheds in the mid to high 60's and up. That is where I have came up short and why I'm just rating this years haul as average to slightly above average.

Here are a few pics of my haul this year.

I'll still be out looking on scouting trips and will post any pics if I find anymore but I'm pretty much done and ready to move on.lol

Seems we are always our own worst critics. Ric I think you had a great year. Then again, it always seems better from the outside looking in. Lol

Thanks Phil I probably did but as many miles as I've walked and briars and thickets I've torn my way through I was hoping to have found a few more bigger sheds but it wasn't due to the lack of effort. Lol

The question was posed earlier, "What constitutes a great shed season?" After this year, I'd have to say bigger is better than numbers. Lol

You had a great year Bro! Sure, your telling us that SIZE does matter? Lol. It sure does when your talking sheds. IMO, but still, average and small ones are still great finds, from a true shed hunters perspective. The miles and boot leather and blood loss are worth every damn one of them.

Thanks bro, you're absolutely correct in your last sentence. I've had worse years no doubt so I do have to see it via the big picture.

Hell guys, I only found 4 this year but consider it a success because I found the match set from the buck I had the "encounter" with. Then again, I probably only hunted them for maybe 6 hours.

Thanks to both of you for allowing us to tag along with your adventures this year. You have had a very popular thread and I for one learned a great deal from you. Congrats to both of you on a successful season!
