The small frame at the bottom are the ones that I knapped myself. I use antler billets for percussion flaking and copper for pressure flaking. I haven't mastered it by no means, but it's fun to do. Flint is so expensive anymore. My FIL uses glass like Mike does. All of my collection was found by me in Morgan and Crawford Counties. Mostly Adena and Woodland pieces.

The ones you did are really nice.

So it isn't just Ric that gets up at the crack of dawn on vacation to look for shark's teeth?

my great grandmother was full cherokee she had jet black hair til she died at 95,my grandpa has some cool things from her, i found couple arrow heads last year well peices of them, this year we have too new fields that are gonna be opened up that havent been planted since the early 80s. on one of the propertys i hunt there are indian burial mounds that ive always wanted to look around but there in the middle of the woods so it might be hard to find things in there. someone told me that certain metal detectors will pick up flint is that true? if it is i might be renting or buying one.

I don't believe a metal detector will pick up flint. Please, out of respect, leave the Indian mounds alone. There is plenty to find out in the fields.

I got out and did a little walking this afternoon after work in pursuit of some arrowheads. Didn't find too much, one broken one and a bunch of pieces. I kept the pieces because the wife wanted to see them.

I found this smooth rock up on top of a hill so I carried it back with me just because I know something had to carry it up there. I'm guessing from a creek in the bottom about 400-500 yards away.

The white rock has me wondering if it might possibly have been some sort of tomahawk or axe maybe.

Here is a better pic of the broken arrowhead. Nothing special but the best piece I found.

Awesome Ricer! I believe that's a stone billet of some sort? They beat the shit out of just anything with them! Lol. Great finds man! I went out too and found a projectile point that was slightly broke and a partial drill.

Thanks Ron. What do ya think about that white rock? Do ya think it may have been a hatchet-axe or something like that? Or just a rock? I also got to looking at one of the pieces of flint that I brought home and the edge of it has been napped off, to make like a knife edge or maybe a scraper. The one I am talking about is the piece in the upper left corner.

Well, Don. That's much more than just a rock. I believe that it is a hammer stone or mallet? Great find, those native Americans were very resourceful and artifacts like that are really cool. Congrats!

Thanks for the info Ron. I just felt like that had to be more than just a axe/hammer shaped rock. I almost threw it down and left it but I just kept thinking it really looked like something I wanted to take home.

Sounds like my kids. Lmao

Sorry Ricer. Not trying to bust your chops. Just sounds like my kids. "Hey dad, I want to keep this." Doesn't matter if it is a rock, skull, chunk of metal, or feather. They find it in the woods and it is going to be forgotten in the backseat of my truck. Lol

Haha. Not trying to bust your chops either bud, but now you sound like my wife. :) " You're always packing those flints and rocks home, are there any left in the woods?" Just love getting out there and sniffing around to see what I can come up with. Lol

Nice finds bud. I always like looking either in the rain or right after a rain. Maybe Ron will chime in about the possible knapping tool.
