The bonus gun weekend total was up 6% statewide.
In the frozen arctic tundra of Brock "Nostradamus" Ratcliff, (aka Fayette County), the kill was off 79% from last year. There were more deer checked in from the woods behind my house over the weekend than all of Fayette County. And thats no extrapol...err bullshit. In Greene County, which borders Fayette from the west, the kill was up 89%. Maybe there's something to Kaisers "migration theory." Vinton County was off 3% or down 6 deer from last year.
District 4, which is home to the majority of Ohio's oak/hickory forrest was up 24%. Never saw that coming.
Some other counties of interest from this conversation; Paulding up 86% - Meigs up 35% - Washington up 36% - Athens up 26% - Ross up 25% - Morgan up 65% - Delaware down 3% - Morrow down 27% - Licking up 16%
Four years ago say I saw 15 deer in one sit and shot 1. But now i see 2 deer and shoot 1.. Is that the same thing Mike? I mean, 1 dead deer is 1 dead dead either way right? Is that that same thing? Answer me that....
So what you're saying is.. It doesn't matter if you sat in the McDonalds drive through for 5 minutes or 30 minutes, you still got a hamburger?? Everything must be right..
Brock, myself and four others walked probably close to 3,000 acres in Highland county last weekend.. For a solid day all we did was drives. Guess how many deer we kicked up.. 6 deer total.. 6 guys pushing, CRP, Woodlots, and thickets for a piddly 6 deer.
Sunday. 22 guys pushed over 2,000 acres in Vinton county. 7 deer were kicked up all day..
I'm sure there is something to Kaisers migration theory. Except it's hunters not deer that migrated to Green from Fayette to increase the harvest from 36 to 68. I mean after a gun season like that I would think i would be looking to hunt another county also.. Oh Crap I did.. Too bad it was highland county fayetts southern neighbor and they were down 24%
Go piss down someone else back and tell them it's rain..
