would you consider that a good thing if you could?
My initial gut reaction would be a no......
would you consider that a good thing if you could?
Here are some more thoughts for Jim to counter.
Archery is all about being consistent. If a person consistently torques the handle, no problem. If a person consistently cants their head, no problem. The problems arise when people aren't consistent. It is much easier to be consistent when everything is "in line". A level, for example, is less beneficial to a shooter that is accustomed to being 'in line"...the shooter can feel when things are slightly out of line after a time. Many shooters use draw length that is a shade too long to be "in line".
Here is an example of a shooter with an 'in line" draw length. I'm willing to bet his sights line up with the string...
would you consider that a good thing if you could?
I would assume that would.be.good. when I tune my.bows I get then how I described on paper. Then I group tune with montecs and.field.points. my montecs group with my field points out to 80 yards.
Archery is ALL about consistency... No argument there. But to say a guy that's "lined up" has an easier time being consistent.... Ehhh, I don't know about that. You'd be hard pressed to completely sell me on that claim.
the shooter can torque , but the bow torques also. that creates lateral nock travel. which is why FS's sights are a touch left of his string. you cannot apply hundreds of pounds of force on a string, pull it to the right so the vanes can clear them and not have something happen to the limbs and riser. Fixed roller guards are big torque inducers. Then don't buy it.
I'll continue to keep my ducks in a row so I don't have to wonder why they stray to the left or right. BTW, the IQ site works to show the shooter they are torqueing the same with each shot. Torque is a lot less of an issue for "in line" shooters. Apparently it's a pretty big deal for some or they wouldn't be making a widget to fix the issue.
J, you think it would be a bad thing to be able to shoot your bareshaft and fletched shafts and hit the exact same mark?
My bet is we aren't discussing 1/16th of an inch. Most would never notice 1/16th. I've seen them as far as 1/4" (and no, I did not measure). I'd guess 1/8th to be the minimum most would pay attention too.
This will make an interesting topic if we get together this spring...
Surely you don't think you'll get my money in a "skins" game... . I haven't shot much for the last 6 months, but my elbow is on the mend
I will afford you the gentlemanly opportunity to win your Pepsi back on the range after I prove your line theory incorrect. But no lip outta mason ...
Fair enough on all accounts, but I'm afraid I may not be able to stiffle Mason. . Seriously, we should gather up Shane and go to a shoot soon. I'll humbly bow out of the skins as its entirely possible it would be a bad investment on my part these days! I'll text Shane...
Hhhmmmm let me check. It's auction season real soon. I may not have a bow by then either. But he is ready to shoot. First Sat of February? You in?
