My wife shoots a DPMS Oracle with a Geissele two stage trigger. She took my Vortex Strikefire and VMX3 flip side magnifier and stuck them on her AR last summer while I was away in Washington. I shoot a DPMS LR-308B (AR-10) also with a two stage Geissele. Now I've got my Leatherwood ART M1000 on it. I absolutely love both guns. Both are accurate as hell and neither of us have ever had a FTC or FTE and we both shoot quite a bit. DPMS may not be the most high priced manufacturer out there but they do put out quality ARs.

I have put over 1,000 rounds through mine and have yet to have a problem. Dirty/clean it shoots good everytime. I just have the nikon pro staff 3x9x40 on mine and it does really well.

That's one of the things I love about DPMS. You can toss that thing in a mud puddle, kick it around some, pull it out and engage. It'll shoot. I'm going to be picking up another DPMS 5.56 sometime in the next few weeks. My .308 is too expensive to go plinking with anymore and the zombies aren't coming yet. Thanks Obama, forced me to have to go buy another gun and probably a reloading press in the near future. Oh well, I'll be happy to redistribute some of my wealth to the gun lobby. Now if only I can find a way to squeeze in the G3 Carbon Element.....

I really like the Sig M400Quad.

Does the M&P 15 Sport come with a dust cover and forward assist? How many of ya have actually had to use the FA?

There is a ton of different opinions on the FA. Lots of guys say they've never needed one. Competition, plinking, hunting you'll probably never need it. SHTF gun, no doubt in my mind I want it there. I've lugged those bastards around in the field on both sides of this earth. After a week of having your dick I the dirt, firing rounds, no time to clean it, throwing it around, rain etc I can almost guarantee you'll need it at some point. And when you do need it, you'll fuggin need it. No matter how hard you let go of that charging handle it won't go in to battery. Usually you can jam it forward using the FA and it'll still run a couple rounds before needing it again, sometimes you use it and it'll FTE right away. But that's one round you sent on it's way before ending up with a club. Even if you have to single shot it by using the charging handle to extract and the FA to get every round in battery, you're still firing rounds. Without it all you have is a club. Is a FA necessary in 99.999% of the things you'll use the gun for, no. But remember someday you may need it for a little more than shooting paper and groundhogs, and then, keeping that rifle running even in single shot mode may mean the difference between you making it or not.

Like Beener said he helped me pick out the smith and Wesson M&P 15T. I love it. Feels good and shoots great. I've had it for maybe 2 months. After 500 rounds it hasn't had a single hiccup. My dad bought the DPMS oracle last week. Side by side the two guns are noticeably different when it comes to quality. The DPMS isn't bad but it doesn't feel as good to me as the smith.

Excuse the green bipod. Only on there so it would sit up. Still waiting on my good one to get here.

I ordered a Colt last night. Found a killer deal with free shipping. It's in the Ghillie Camo pattern.

I'd wait and see what it likes first.....

X2

Now if you are talking plonking ammo and not worried about precision (2-3 MOA) then about any bulk military or military like loading will work.

My local, large LGS has 1000 rounds of military ball for $399 currently. Doesn't take long to pay for a Lee press buying any kind of bulk. It costs me around $220 to load 1000 rounds of very precise ammo in 223 right now.
