Snake

Funny you should post this Frank. I was laying out a pipeline in an area of WV today known for its booming population of copperheads. I was down in a swampy area in chest high weeds and was considering turning around when I decided to tough out a few more feet of line. I took 3 more steps and felt a smack (and heard it) on my right boot as I was picking my foot up. I looked down just in time to see a tail slither off into the weeds. I have no idea what kind of snake it was, but I definitely had one strike my boot. F that stuff!!! Didn't take me long to make it back to the truck!

Holy chit I'd be changing my underwear!

Most people that are bit by snakes are bit on the hand. It happens when they foolishly try to pick them up. Darwin...

You are an idiot, Jamie, and I say that with all due respect. :)

canebrake.

the Rebel boys I was hunting with wanted to shoot it with a shotgun. dumb bastards woulda blown it to smithereens if I hadn't of killed it with some finesse. was only about 45 degrees. even idiots can safely dispatch a large snake that can barely move. gimme a little credit, Brock.

Number one rule back home in Mississippi. "If you can't see your feet, you've got no business walking there."

The second one is never step over a log. Always step on it then hop off the other side a few feet away. Even ones as big as a standard telephone pole can have a snake coiled up against it or laid along it on the other side.

I don't bother snakes but I don't want the damn things in my garage. Got to think of the wife's safety. LOL.

I would've ran outta there without my feet touching the ground!

Jamie is right though, cold weather to these cold blooded critters is like kryptonite is to superman. Same thing with stinging flying insects like wasps and hornets.

Ya I know but I would get a snake that was not up on the latest info.
Just like deer don't run uphill when dying. The big buck I shot went straight up a steep hill I had to hold onto brush to climb. He laid dead at the top. The buck wasn't up on the latest info either.

Last night I was watching that TV show naked and afraid. This couple had to survive in the Louisiana bayou for 21 days. In one part the guy is out trying to collect palm fronds for their shelter. The whole time he's bitching about snakes. He was standing there and said there are water moccasins everywhere you look. He pointed out 6 of them that he could see all around while standing in one spot. I laughed because while he can spot 6 I bet there is 3x those he can't see or didn't spot. Then they proceeded to make a lean to shelter on the ground on a tiny patch of swampy dirt barely 2 inches above water level. Needless to say the first time it rained they got flooded. That's also a stupid idea because it's a very good way for a moccasin to crawl in bed with you. Build that shelter off the ground. Waist high minimum.

My son next door has been finding big snake skin sheds in his warehouse. Yesterday they caught a 6" 1" ft. black snake in the building. My grandson put it in a bucket and released it about 100 yds. down in the food plot behind my house.
I told him if that damn snake shows up in my garage he was sleeping in the garage until he caught it. He said you wouldn't do that. I told him his grandmother might. LOL
